In dieser Installation wird die museumsinterne Überwachungsanlage zweckentfremdet. Hierzu sind zwei der

16 Kanäle der Videoanlage genutzt. Zwei Grossfotos (ca. 130 x 180 cm) sind in der Haupthalle so installiert,

dass sie das Sichtfeld der beiden Videokameras der Überwachungungsanlage komplett abdecken. Anstelle des

Ausstellungsraums sind die Museumstoiletten auf den entsprechneden Monitoren im Eingangsbereich zu sehen.

Die Eingangstüren der öffentliche Toilette des Museums sind mit Hinweisschildern, die die Videoüberwachung

ankündigen, versehen.

 

1. Beim Eintritt in das Museum ist der Besucher mit den im Kassenbereich gut sichtbaren, vom Museum fest

installierten Überwachungsmonitoren konfrontiert: Diese zeigen nun in wechselnden Bildern neben den Räumlichkeiten

des Museums auch die Toiletten. Weiterhin ist an der Kasse von Mohné eine Kamera installiert, die die Reaktionen der

Besucher auf die vermeintliche Toilettenüberwachung live in das abgeschlossene Rondell innerhalb der Haupthalle

(ständige Sammlung) überträgt

 

2. In der Museumshalle entdecken die Besucher die Grossfotos im Sichtfeld der hausinternen Videokameras.

 

3. Auf einem Monitor innerhalb des abgeschlossenen Rondells in der Haupthalle, können die aktuell eintreffenden

Besucher beobachtet werden. Weiterhin sind auf verschiedenen Monitoren die Überwachungen der vorrangegangene

Aktionen aus Strassburg, Münster, Washington und Innsbruck zu sehen. An der Aussenwand des Rondells sind

die Fotos aus Kalifornien und Prag installiert.

 

 

In this installation the museum's surveillance system is misappropriated, deploying 16 channels of the

video system for its own use. Two large-scale photos (approx. 130 x 180 cm) are installed in the main hall

in such a way as to completely cut off the field of vision of the two video surveillance cameras. Instead of

showing the actual exhibition room, these cameras now show photographs of the museum's toilets to

incoming visitors. The entry doors to these toilets have written notices that warn that the area is being

subjected to video surveillance.

 

1. On entering the museum, the visitor is confronted with the surveillance monitors installed from the

museum's beginnings and easily visible from the cashier's counter. These screens now not only show

changing images of the museum's rooms, but also of the toilets. Furthermore Mohné has installed a camera

at the cashier's that records the reactions of the visitors to the supposed lavatory surveillance and

transmits them live to the enclosed rondelle within the main hall (permanent collection).

 

2. Entering the hall, the visitors see the photographic blowups that show the toilets of the museum and that

are in the field of vision of the museum's video cameras.

 

3. If the visitors step into the rondelle within the main hall, they are able to observe incoming visitors

on the screen. In addition, on different monitors of the video surveillance system visitors can view other

prior actions from Strasbourg, Münster, Washington and Innsbruck. On the outside wall of the rondelle,

photos from California and Prague are installed.

 

 

 

 

 

Die öffentliche Intervention (go and see calilfornia public intervention) wird weitergeführt,

indem parallel zur Ausstellung die Aufkleber auf ca. 500 öffentlichen Toiletten im Aachener

Stadtraum in Museen, Theatern, öffentlichen Institutionen, Restaurants, Kneipen, Ämtern, etc. installiert werden.

Die fotografische Dokumentation dessen wird im Museum präsentiert

und fortwährend aktualisiert.

 

Public intervention (go and see calilfornia public intervention) is being continued so that, parallel to the exhibition,

stickers have been installed at approx. 500 public toilets in Aachen: in museums, theaters, public institutions, restaurants,

pubs, offices, etc. The photographic documentation is being presented in the museum and constantly brought up to date.
