DI_GI_TA_LIS,
A PLANT SCAN PROJECT
DI_GI_TA_LIS - NEW RELEASED ARTIST MONOGRAPH. An overview of the performative series, which started in 2000. A “poetry of the technical” in art at the interface of device, interface and intermediality.
DI_GI_TA_LIS presents a series of fascinating plant portrayals. The local useful plants are not photographed following to the central perspectival principle of the camera obscura, but captured by a high-resolution flatbed scanner. The book provides an overview of the performative series of the “Plant Scans” by Achim Mohné, who since the 1990s has been dealing with a “poetry of the technical” in art at the intersection of device, interface and intermediality. The essays from the fields of philosophy, art history, social psychology, medicine, and media studies enrich the post- photographic discourse that has evolved in conjunction with the digitization of visual media. Mohné understands the function of the image as a link between social intermedia actions, placing DI_GI_TA_LIS in the ethical-ecological context of current debates on sustainability: perceiving what nature unconditionally offers. Authors: Clemens Krümmel, Eicke Latz and Anette Christ, Daniel Tyradellis, Judith Elisabeth Weiss, Harald Welzer and Siegfried Zielinski.
