EINE STUMME GLOCKE ERZÄHLT

All that is left today of the Luther Church in Cologne-Mülheim is the steeple and the “emergency church” built from the rubble by Otto Bartning. The steeple’s bells were sold in 2000. This was already the third “set” of bells, since the original chimes were melted down in the First World War and again in the Second World War for “important military purposes”.

And now the steeple is getting a “new bell”. On 22 September, a live set in front of the church will do a free interpretation of the “change ringing” for Cologne-Mülheim that will determine the Luther Steeple’s bell peal for the coming weeks.
