Achim Mohné – Lecture Series WS/23 at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Achim Mohné has been appointed Professor of Documentary Photography & Transmedia Publishing at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund, Germany, in 2023. His teaching and research focuses on photographic authenticity in the transformation of digital techniques such as CGI, 3D and AI, with special attention to the complex structure of digital distribution of photographic images.

Ting-Chun Liu – Artist

In his interdisciplinary approach including audiovisual media, performances and installations, Ting-Chun Liu utilizes different AI mechanisms to reflect on the collective unconscious and the unattainable "ideal" perspective in AI-generated images. More specifically, he will speak about building imaginary landscapes with the AI Biases. Liu holds a BFA in new media arts from National Taipei University of the Arts and is currently a postgraduate student at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.

Leon-Etienne Kühr – Artist

Leon-Etienne Kühr studierte Informatik, Medienkunst und Design an der Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar (DE) mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Feedback-Schleifen der Künstlichen Intelligenz. Zurzeit ist er Artist in Residence in Klagenfurt (AT), um seine künstlerische Forschung über das ästhetische Potenzial und die gesellschaftlichen Auswirkungen der Machine-to-Machine-Kommunikation fortzusetzen. Moderiert von Prof. Achim Mohné.

David Young has a master's degree in visual studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab, and a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of California. He has taught at Art Center College of Design and Parsons School of Design, New York. David Young lives and works in New York. In his lecture he will talk about his work, focusing on AI and quantum computing. Moderated by Prof. Achim Mohné.
